Roads Bill Passes House by Unanimous Vote. 06-13-2007 The Louisiana House of Representatives passed a bill to dedicate existing motor vehicle sales taxes to roads by a vote of 103-0 yesterday.
After lengthy debate about the best way to structure the new roads funds, the House unanimously passed the bill based on work begun last year to dedicate certain existing taxes to roads on an ongoing basis.
"I am deeply gratified that the House has passed this important legislation" said Representative Joel Robideaux. "The bill is not perfect, but this effort represents a non-partisan consensus that Louisiana must make major investments in improving our roads without raising taxes" he said. |
